Lead Estimator

The State of Wyoming developed a solution to address an aging, disconnected, and inefficient campus in Evanston, Wyoming.  Post-bid value engineering had to be done to get the project in budget.  Kodi Mackey worked with the State of Wyoming, Architectural/Engineering team, and MOCA (Owner Rep) to get the project cost within the allotted funds.  $1.2 Million was for deductive alternates, and $1.7 Million was for post budget alignment items we listed.  She worked with the design team and Owner for six (6) weeks post bid in order to develop and achieve the savings.  Items included were changing BIM Requirements, types and grades of insulation, and some mechanical re-design.

Gillette College Technical Education Center

Lead Estimator

The Tech Center was constructed north of the existing college campus and included classrooms, administration offices, welding lab, diesel technology, demonstration bays, and a lecture hall.

The project was phased to allow an early start of the site package and keep the original schedule.  Kodi worked with the Owner to negotiate contracts with the mechanical, electrical and structural subcontractors.  This helped expedite the large contracts & schedule, give more detailed constructibility recommendations, and procure large dollar/long lead time items early to keep costs down and ensure timely delivery of critical materials.

In addition to general preconstruction services, she worked to provide information for budget alignments so they could incorporate the cost of a 72,000 pound pedestrian bridge. The new bridge was placed over the creek that runs between the existing college campus to the building.

Sustainable features of the technical education center include a 30,000 gallon rain water storage system that is supplying the ‘low pressure’ side of the irrigation system; expandable to 60,000gal. In addition there are low E, special UV type glass on the south side of the building.
